陈彧凡 | Yufan Chen

1973年 出生于福建莆田， 1997年毕业于福建师范大学艺术学院，2007年毕业于中国美术学院综合艺术系研究生班，现生活工作于杭州。
从福建莆田到杭州、上海，陈彧凡的个人成长经历是现代新移民的典型，于是他的创作来源多是由这种状态下对自我的身份认知所引发的。比如他对“物”的癖好和敬畏就源自幼年生活的福建莆田的浓厚宗教氛围。从二维平面绘画到三维立体装置，陈彧凡始终在探寻艺术创作的多种可能性。有别于其他艺术家的装置，学习平面绘画出身的陈彧凡在创作装置作品时仍会强调一定的绘画性。通过《衍生物》系列作品，他试图改变对平面作品的观看方式，使观者得以从不同的角度产生从平面到“物”的视觉感受。 作品从画面中延伸出来，成为与平面的墙之间具有一定距离和对抗性的存在。
Chen Yufan was born in Fujian but moved to Hangzhou and Shanghai seeking education and work. His experience is a typical case of modern immigrants moving to big cities. Chen’s works are often inspired by the cognition of his self-identity in the state of being away from his hometown. His obsession with “objects” is rooted in the influence from the religious atmosphere of Fujian where he spent his childhood. His installation is an “object” derived from the two-dimensional surface. The “derivative” is hang in the way of a plane while it also encourages us to change our ways of seeing and view it from various angles.
