赵无极 | Wou-Ki Zao

法籍华裔画家，生于中华民国北京，祖籍镇江丹徒大港。赵无极毕业于国立杭州艺术专科学校，师从方干民与吴大羽，是决澜社成员。2002年，赵无极获选为法兰西艺术学院院士。赵无极与吴冠中、朱德群并称中国艺术界的「留法三剑客」。赵无极的画作融合了西方抽象表现主义和中国传统水墨的作品，自由、洒脱、豪放又精致。然而他的突破不仅仅是浮于表面的载体、笔触或用色上，他想要并成功表达的，是更深层面的东方哲学。这时期作品清一色“无题”的标题，可以看作是对道家“虚静”的呼应；他充满泼洒感的抽象画面，传递着一些非具象的、形而上的精神讯息。
Wou-ki Zao is named as the 'Representative of Western contemporary lyrical abstractionism'. He emphasied 'my picture should breath together with my heart.' In early years, Zao clamied that 'traditional Chinese arts are mostly dead and stiff', and with that in mind, he came to Oaris to see all western masters such as Van Gogh Francois Boucher, and Henri Matisse. However, he realised that the representation of estern elemets in those western artworks only floats on the surface; In other words, it did not consider the profound meaning within a painting. He then rediscovered Chinese philosiy in his art. Visual eements such as Chinese calligraphy, dark and light ink, the composistion of traditional Chinese landscape, all contribute to deliver the idea of 'the universe and people are all existed simultaneously' in his abstract and concentrate works.
